Advanced Biostructural Correction

Providing Symptomatic Relief
ABC stands for Advanced Biostructural Correction, and is a system of analysing and adjusting the body that produces very consistent and predictable changes in posture and body alignment, as well as providing great symptomatic relief in the majority of cases.
Subluxations and Compensations
In our busy lives, stresses and traumas can push bones out of their ideal alignment. Usually the body will automatically attempt to correct this, using muscles to pull the bones in the opposite direction to the displacement. However, sometimes bones can be pushed in a direction where the body doesn’t have any muscles to pull the bone back again, and the bone will be stuck out of place, causing tension and pulling on surrounding muscles, ligaments and tendons, and interfering with normal nerve function. These misalignments that the body can’t fix are called subluxations.
Because subluxations can cause such great interference to the normal function of the body, the body will attempt to deal with them as best it can. This usually involves the body using muscles to twist other bones slightly out of place to counter-balance the things it can’t fix. These self-created misalignments are called compensations.
Limited Function, Slumping posture & Pain

As more subluxations develop and more compensations are created to deal with them, the body becomes more and more twisted over time, like a tightening spring. Eventually this tension becomes so great that we start to experience more and more limited function, slumping posture, and eventually pain.
Unwinding
A chiropractors job is then to locate the bones that are out of place that the body can’t self correct (subluxations), and gently adjust them back into position. This allows the body to untwist the compensations it created to deal with these subluxations, resulting in less slumped posture, freer movement and function and significantly less pain. This process is known as unwinding.
