Headaches And Migraines - Total Balance Chiropractic

Headaches are one of the most common ways in which a body will communicate to you that there is something wrong that it can’t address itself. Many People think getting headaches is a normal part of life without realising that in most cases they can be addressed so they are not a constantly recurring issue. Nerve irritation is thought to be responsible for the vast majority of headaches, particularly as a result of muscle tension and upper neck dysfunction.

Outside of the pain associated with headaches, individuals who suffer from headaches may experience concurrent symptoms such as episodes of dizziness, increased sensitivity to light and/or sound and altered sensation in the face or limbs.

There is a large number of different types of headaches. The most common types of headaches are; tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches, cluster headaches and migraines. Migraines are a type of severe headache which most sufferers find cause excruciating pain in the skull and are often associated with feelings of nausea as well as increased sensitivity to light and/or sound. They typically cause a throbbing pain on one side of the head and can be associated with triggers such as certain chemicals, drinking red wine and altered hormone levels.

Due to the large number of headache types and causes, it is always advised to seek the opinion of a health professional such as a Chiropractor to rule out headaches that are from a pathological origin or infection. To read more about headaches click here.
